Three-day route

Friday lakefront, Saturday beach and river trail, Sunday museum and West Shore

Keep the route north and west of Tahoe City. Sand Harbor and Emerald Bay each add enough driving, parking uncertainty, and shoreline time to replace a day rather than join this itinerary.

Confirm Gatekeeper's Museum hours, visit the Truckee River outlet, then choose Sunnyside or Sugar Pine Point as the single West Shore stop before driving home. Skip Emerald Bay on this route unless it replaces the museum and nearer shoreline stop.
